RIGA - In crisis situations, it is necessary not only to quickly identify the damage, but also to quickly decide on solutions to help, Minister of Culture Agnese Lace (Progressives) told LETA, who today paid a working visit to Jurmala.
She noted that in Jurmala she met with the head of the municipality Rita Sproge (Greens/Farmers) and discussed the storm damage in the municipality. The Minister of Culture stressed that, for example, experts from the Center for Cultural Space and Environmental Design of Jurmala Municipality are ready to help residents with advice on restoring private properties after the devastation.
Lace said that cultural policy and cultural education issues were also discussed during the visit. She added that Jurmala already has a wide range of quality cultural education opportunities.
As reported, Riga will assist Jurmala in collecting rainwater, acting Riga City Council Chairman Edvards Ratnieks (National Alliance) informed at a press conference today.
He informed that two water pumping trucks from the Riga municipal companies will go to the neighboring municipality at the request of Jurmala.
Given that the storm and heavy rain damage in Riga is less than in the neighboring resort city, Riga will help the more affected Jurmala.
Ratnieks added that the legal details of paying for the service will have to be dealt with by the municipal companies, as it is their equipment.
