Former mayor Lembergs number two on For Latvia and Ventspils' ticket for local elections in Ventspils

RIGA - Former mayor Aivars Lembergs is running as number two on the ticket of For Latvia and Ventspils party in the local elections in Ventspils this year, according to the Central Election Commission.

The party's top candidate in Ventspils this year is not Lembergs, but Janis Vitolins, the current mayor of Ventspils. Lembergs is followed on the ticket by two vice-mayors, Guntis Blumbergs and Aigo Gutmanis.

Current Ventspils deputies Didzis Osenieks, Kristine Lemberga and Andris Grigalis are also on the ticket, as well as surgeon Girts Stekerhofs, Dainis Kula, a member of several municipal committees, Ventspils Vocational School's principal Kristine Vagnere-Davidova, and basketball club Ventspils board member Ralfs Pleinics.

Other candidates are Ventspils Music High School principal Jekabs Macpans, Ventspils territory planning official Rudolfs Punkstins, Dzintara Jura company's board member Arvis Sanders, Ventspils Marathon Club board member Andris Valerts, and Ventspils Hockey Union's director Ricards Ozols.

The Central Election Commission has so far registered eight tickets for the elections in Ventspils.

13 councilors are to be elected to Ventspils Council. With 93 candidates on all tickets, there are 7.15 candidates competing for one seat.
