Antanas Sireika, a former head coach of the Lithuanian national men's basketball team, plans to run for parliament on a ticket from the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP).
The Lithuanian parliamentary elections will be held on October 9, 2016.
Algirdas Sysas, head of the Social Democrats' central election headquarters, confirmed to BNS that Sireika's name had been placed last on the party's list of candidates for the upcoming general elections.
