Foreign Ministry hopes to get EUR 7 million from EU Recovery and Resilience Facility

RIGA - The Foreign Ministry hopes to get about EUR 7 million from the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility for the ministry's digital projects and modernization of embassies, LETA learned at the Foreign Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry's projects deal with improving the quality of services the ministry provides to residents, including digitization of the ministry's services, as well as expanding telecommuting opportunities for the ministry's employees.

The total amount of the ministry's projects is approximately EUR 7 million. The list of the Foreign Ministry's projects and the total worth thereof will depend on the project assessment criteria.

As reported, European Union leaders have agreed to set up a EUR 750 billion recovery fund, from which Latvia is to receive EUR 5 billion. The Latvian government has agreed that the Finance Ministry will be in charge of preparing Latvia's Recovery and Resilience Plan and submitting it to the European Commission.
