RIGA - An exhibition "Lessons from the Second World War and the Baltic Path to UN Member State Status" has opened at the UN Headquarters in New York, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed LETA.
The exhibition is organized in the context of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War to highlight the importance of a rules-based international order and the importance of international law.
The Foreign Ministry notes that through the documents and texts on display, the organizers of the exhibition inform visitors about the consequences of the Second World War in the Baltic States, which led to their reoccupation and exclusion from the international agenda.
The exhibition was opened by the ambassadors of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, alongside more than 100 guests, including representatives of Baltic Appeal to the United Nations, who advocated for the restoration of the independence of the Baltic States during the occupation, addressing UN member states and providing information on the repression by the Soviet regime.
The exhibition will be on display until May 23 on the ground floor of UN Headquarters.
