EUR 1.9 billion worth of EU co-financed projects approved in Latvia so far

RIGA  - By July 19 this year, the Latvian Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFLA) has approved EU co-financed projects worth more than EUR 1.9 billion which is equal to 44.1 percent of the total EU funding available to Latvia in the amount of EUR 4.4 billion.

The Finance Ministry said that EUR 382.5 million or 8.7 percent of the financing had been disbursed so far.

There is active work on launch and implementation of projects. The biggest progress in June and the first half of July was made in the projects concerning transportation, water management, environment and territorial development, voctional education and health promotion.

Finance Ministry’s and CFLA support to the second stage of liquidation of acid waste ponds in Incukalns, and submission of the project to the European Commission for approval in the status of large projects is a considerable step in environment protection, said the ministry.

Another significant project is construction of a multimodal transport hub in Tornakalns.
