TALLINN - The Estonian Rescue Workers' Union is to stage a demonstration on Thursday in front of the the Stenbock House government seat in support of a pay hike for rescuers, the online news portal of public broadcaster ERR reports.
The rescuers' union said that a swift rise in the average wage has cancelled out the positive effects of rescuers' wage growth.
"The purpose of the rally is to draw the attention of the government and the Riigikogu to rescuers' continuously difficult situation in which the rapid growth in the average wage together with the negative wage prospects for civil servants have effectively cancelled out the positive effects of the so-called unprecedented wage hike of 2019," the Rescue Workers' Union said.
