TALLINN – The listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp will open its second restaurant of the fast food chain Burger King in May in the historic waiting pavilion of the Balti jaam train station.
The first restaurant of the global chain will open in mid-April in the Rocca al Mare shopping center and the company has already announced the location of its third restaurant in the Ulemiste shopping center.
In addition to the Burger King restaurant, a shop with a brand new concept for Tallink Grupp -- a Tallink Ekspress shop -- will also be opened in the 600 square meter Balti Jaam waiting pavilion. The pavilion will be rented by Tallink Grupp from the property management group RealWay, which is part of the Go Group.
In the first half of 2020, Tallink Grupp plans to open four Burger King restaurants in Estonia and a total of eight restaurants across the Baltics during the full year 2020. The locations of the other restaurants in addition to Rocca al Mare, Ulemiste and Balti Jaam, will be announced already in the near future.
According to Tallink, in the new Tallink Ekspress shop, shoppers in a rush to work or to catch a train can find pastries, cakes, sandwiches and many convenience items.
In September of last year, Tallink Grupp announced it acquired the Burger King franchise rights for the Baltic countries. In fall, Tallink established a subsidiary, OU Tallink Fast Food, for operating the restaurants. The subsidiary, in turn, has registered subsidiaries in Lithuania and Latvia.
With the launch and operation of restaurants in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the company is to create approximately 800 new jobs in the Baltics. Tallink Grupp holds 20-year franchises for Burger King restaurants in each of the three countries.
