TALLINN – The Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE) is planning to introduce the new foreign trade and IT minister candidate to Prime Minister Juri Ratas on Friday.

Interior Minister Mart Helme said at a government press conference on Thursday that Ratas will arrive back from a visit to the United States at around noon on Friday. "We will also try to introduce the new foreign trade and IT minister candidate to him right away then," Helme said.

Helme told public broadcaster ERR on Tuesday that a candidate for the position of foreign trade and IT minister has been found with whom there is also an agreement.

According to the interior minister, EKRE's board is to convene an extraordinary electronic council meeting next week to approve the candidate.

Former foreign trade and IT minister Kert Kingo tendered her resignation on Oct. 23.
