RIGA - The Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry has sent a letter to all ministries, urging all public institutions to switch to remote work, the ministry informed LETA.

According to the Law on the Management of the Spread of Covid-19 Infection, the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry is responsible for ensuring secure remote work within the state administration.

Therefore, taking into consideration the epidemiological situation in the country and in order to stem the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, the ministry believes that the number of contacts between individuals, including public administration employees, must be reduced.

In order to reduce the number of contacts, the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry is asking public institutions to organize work remotely where possible.

Should an institution encounter significant problems that make remote work impossible and that require the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry's involvement to be solved, the institution has to contact the ministry by email.
