TALLINN – Enterprise Estonia (EAS) is extending the deadline for the application round for government-approved rent support payments to trade and service companies negatively affected by the coronavirus outbreak until the afternoon of June 19.
The drawing up of applications requires time in order to enter into agreements with lessors and as the number of applications has increased in the last days of the application round, EAS is extending the deadline for the round so that all applicants can submit an application, the foundation announced.
The government supported the proposal of the Estonian Traders Association, according to which stores will be provided with rent payment aid equaling the reduction in rent by the owner of the rental space but no more than 25 percent of the total rent payment.
The support can be applied for by a trade or service company that uses a trade or service space on the basis of a lease or rental agreement in a shopping center, which was partially or completely closed due to the restriction of freedom of movement in trade companies established on March 24. Operators of children's playrooms outside shopping centers can also apply for support.
Applications can be submitted through Enterprise Estonia's e-service. The order in which the application is submitted is not decisive for receiving the support, meaning that the "first come, first served" principle does not apply to this support and all applications submitted before the deadline will be considered. If the total amount requested for eligible applications exceeds the budget for the measure, support will be awarded on a pro rata basis.
EAS points out that upon submission of the application, the applicant may not have state tax debts as of March 12 this year or they have been paid or deferred by the time of submission of the application. The applicant must also have fulfilled the obligation to submit tax returns and annual reports by the time of submitting the application.
To date, altogether 344 applications in the total amount of 732,676 euros have been submitted. The total budget of the support measure is four million euros.
