RIGA - Children from Ventspils Music School choir "Nosu Planeta" were injured in a collision between a minibus and a truck on Ventspils Highway on Friday, while one of the choir's conductors was killed, Ventspils Mayor Janis Vitolins (For Latvija and Ventspils) told LETA.
The injured children and the other choir conductor have been taken to Children's Clinical University Hospital in Riga, Tukums Hospital, and Talsi Hospital, said Vitolins.
The children and the choir conductors were on their way to an international Christmas song competition in Daugavpils, they were traveling in a rented minibus, said Vitolins.
As reported, a minibus carrying children collided with a truck on Ventspils Highway in Strazde Parish, Talsi Region on Friday, one person died and another eight suffered injuries in the collision, as the State Police's public relations officer Madara Sersnova informed LETA.
The driver of the minibus, one adult passenger, as well as six minors were injured in the accident, said Sersnova.
In total, eight persons were hospitalized: two adults and six minors, some in serious condition.
Ten ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
