RIGA - The State Center for Defense Military Sites and Procurement has concluded contracts on the purchase of 1,140,000 surgical masks and respirators for an estimated EUR 3 million, LETA was told at the Defense Ministry.
The personal protective equipment (PEE) is being purchased for Latvia's institutions.
One of the contracts provides for a delivery of 90,000 disposable surgical masks and 50,000 respirators. The total price of that deal is EUR 185,500.
Another contract provides for a delivery of one million respirators for EUR 2.9 million.
The contracts have been awarded to the Jelgava-registered company Titled.
According to information available at Firmas.lv, Titled belongs to Nauris Grosu. In 2018, the company turned over EUR 687,760 and made a EUR 63,499 profit.
As reported, the State Center for Defense Military Objects and Procurement has been tasked with making the centralized purchases of PPE and disinfection products and ensure their storage, creating a reserve for at least three months.
The State Fire and Rescue Service will be keeping a list of prioritized institutions and their procurement needs, while the National Health Service and other health experts will assist with setting quality standards for PPE and disinfection products.
