Budget cut for Lithuanian State Security Department is 'illogical and strange' - director

VILNIUS - The director of the Lithuanian State Security Department is sceptical of a planned cut in budget funding for his department in light of a decision to boost spending on national defense. "In fact, that reduction, at a time when (funding) is being increased all around, seems illogical and strange. That minus is not large, but a minus is still a minus," Darius Jauniskis told BNS today. "We asked for an additional 1.8 million euros or so to be able to develop technologies and increase the staff at the State Security Department....
