RIGA - A BMW X5 automobile that the killers of football agent Romans Bezzubovs were possibly riding was found burning in Mezaparks neighborhood of Riga last night, the State Police's Chief Armands Ruks confirmed to LETA.
The State Fire and Rescue Service told LETA that the burning car on Ezermalas Street was reported at 1:28 a.m. There were no casualties. Firefighters put out the fire and reported the incident to the police.
LETA has learned that the burning automobile was found at 27 Ezermalas Street.
As reported, the murder of Bezzubovs in Riga Wednesday morning may have been a contract killing linked to Bezzubovs' professional activity, believe investigators, pointing out that the State Police are also investigating other leads.
A video surveillance camera record obtained by LETA shows that the attack took about 20 seconds. Bezzubovs, driving a Volkswagen Touareg, was about to pull out on Astras Street when a black BMW X5 blocked his way. Shots were fired from the attackers' car, after which Bezzubovs' automobile rammed the BMW and both vehicles moved out of the surveillance camera's view.
