RIGA - In order to contain spread of the coronavirus, all passengers arriving at the Riga airport, showing flu-like symptoms, may perform Covid-19 test on the spot, Health Minister Ilze Vinkele (For Development) said in an interview with the Latvian public television on Sunday.
The test can be performed for all arriving passengers with symptoms, irrespective of the country they arrive from. Passengers will have to leave their contact information so that medics may contact them when the test results are ready.
The airport's representative Laura Karnite said that people are asked to arrive to meet passengers at the airport only if the arriving passenger needs assistance in getting home. Passengers are asked to use private transportation if possible to get home from the airport.
As reported, in order to prevent the further spread of the Covid-19 cornavirus outbreak in the country, the government today had decided that all international passenger transportation will be suspended from March 17 to April 14.
