Continuing the development of the electric car charging network, energy commodities trader and convenience store network AS VIRŠI-A (hereinafter – "Virši") opens the most powerful electric charging station in the very centre of Riga – Satekles Street 2. Celebrating with customers, this weekend, June 15 and 16, the newly-opened facility will provide free charging and treat the owners of electric cars with coffee.

"Virši Satekle" is equipped with two charging stations: one offers ultra-fast charging of up to 320 kW, which allows to load the charge required for a distance of 150 km in five minutes, provided that the car is able to accept this power, while the other - 40 kW is suitable for leisurely charging and is able to provide the charge required for a distance of 150 km in 40 minutes.

"This is already the 16th service station of ours to offer electric car charging capabilities, and the most powerful of all with the ability to test your car's charging abilities by charging with a 320 kW CCS plug. We look forward to seeing electric car owners this Saturday and Sunday to test the new option for free! In total, "Virši" currently already provides 50 ports throughout Latvia, but by promoting the availability of this sustainable transport energy type in our country, by September we plan to expand our network with five more electric charging stations," says Anrijs Tukulis "Virši" Sustainability Project Manager.

The expansion of the electric car charging network is part of “Virši” cooperation with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. It has already been reported that in 2022, an agreement was signed between “Virši” and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency to link the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Facility (AFIF) to build 20 new “Virši” electric charging stations within the existing service station network. It provides for the installation of 28 connection points with charging capacity of at least 150 kW in 20 "Virši" service stations, and 8 of these 20 locations will have at least a 870A connection to the distribution system operator. The project is expected to be completed by September this year.
