RIGA - The alcohol producers’ market has decreased following the general retail market trend. In 2009, sales volumes dropped by 29 percent, and for this year another 10 percent decrease is predicted. But the main reasons for such bad trends for alcohol producers is the high excise tax for alcohol and the boom in the illegal alcohol market, which is very weakly controlled by the government.
