Three dead in major road traffic accident on Valmiera highway

RIGA - Three people lost their lives in a major road traffic accident on the Valmiera highway near Murjani on Thursday afternoon, police informed.

The road section in the area of the accident was closed to traffic in both directions. 

According to police information, two trucks and one passenger car collided on highway A3 in  the Saulkrasti municipality at around 5 p.m. Three persons died in the accident and two others were rushed to hospital. 

Latvijas Valsts Celi state road manager informed that due to the collision of the vehicles traffic was blocked on the Valmiera highway near Murjani. The highway is likely to remain closed to traffic for two or three more hours.
