Soviet victory in WW2 commemorated in Riga

Around 1,000 people gathered in Riga’s Victory Park to celebrate the 71st anniversary of Nazi Germany’s surrender to the Soviet Union in 1945. Police spokesman Toms Sadovskis told BNS that the rally was peaceful and the police had so far not arrested anyone for any violations.  He also said that today was a working day therefore the crowd at the park was not very large.  The Police is patrolling in the park in large numbers to ensure public order during the rally.
