Reading the border signs MOSCOW- A fruitful meeting of government officials took place in Moscow today, regarding the marking of the border point at Vistytis. The point borders Russia, Poland and Lithuania and agreements needed to made regarding the proper way to mark this border point.Participating were, the Lithuanian delegation, led by Head of the Governmental Commission for Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border and Determination of the Economic Zone in the Baltic Sea of the Republic of Lithuania Zenonas Kumetaitis, as well as border officials in Russia and from Poland. According to a press release by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an agreement was reached regarding the principal provisions of demarcation of the intersection point Vištytis: the parties agreed on the type and the size of the sign. Moreover, during the negotiations, the instructions of marking the intersection point of the state borders were essentially agreed upon.
This is the third round of negotiations regarding this matter
Completion of the sign is expected to be in the beginning of 2009 While this may seem like a trivial matter, discussions have been going on for years, since the three governments signed the border agreement in 2005. The only problem is agreeing on the demarcation of the point in Vistytis. |
