Environmental protection is a hot issue around the world. This year, Latvian school kids will get in on the action while having fun ice skating, making mud pies and throwing water balloons.At the River Conference for teachers on Sept. 28, it was announced that 50 schools on or near the banks of Latvia's biggest rivers - the Daugava, Gauja, Lielupe, Salaca and Venta - will participate in a 26-month environmental education program using new teaching methods.The Riga Children's Environmental School ...
