TALLINN/RIGA - After coming under fire from its Baltic neighbors, the Latvian government withdrew Jan. 12 a proposal that would have established quotas on pork imports from Estonia and Lithuania.The cabinet of Prime Minister Vilis Kristopans had endorsed quotas on pork and live pigs to protect local producers, who it says are suffering from a flood of cheaper imports from Estonia.But after Tallinn and Vilnius charged the proposal violates the Baltic Free Trade Agreement, the Kristopans governmen ...
