Estonia will allocate 50,000 euros to support the spread of the deadly ebola virus in Africa, Postimees Online reports.

The cash boost will go towards the World Health Organisation (WHO) in its fight against the disease that has claimed over a thousand lives.

“We need to prevent a major epidemic and put a stop to the spreading of the virus in the western part of Africa,” said Estonia's Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.

Over 1,500 people have died from the Ebola virus in countries including Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone, the World Health Organization reports.
