Latvia blacklists 16 people amid Ukraine crisis

Latvian Interior Minister Kozlovskis said more people would be blacklisted in the future

Latvia has blacklisted 16 individuals in connection with the Ukraine crisis, Latvia’s Minister of Interior Rihards Kozlovskis has said.

Kozlovskis told the 900 sekundes TV show that more people would be blacklisted in the future. The decree means that foreigners are not allowed to enter Latvia. 

The indiduals who have not been named, have been accused of inciting unrest and discord in Latvia. The list includes Russian citizens and citizens of European Union countries. 

In 2014, a total of 18 persons were blacklisted in terrorism charges.

The Minister of Interior can decide to add a foreign citizen to the list if he or she fits one of the seven conditions.Reasons may include to believe that a foreigner causes a threat to state security on the basis of their statements.
