RIGA - Latvia’s agriculture minister, Janis Duklavs, will request that the government this week declare a state of emergency in the area affected by the African swine-fever outbreak, reports LETA. The government was to gather for a meeting on Tuesday, during which Duklavs was to deliver a report on the situation. After carrying out detailed laboratory tests, the Food and Veterinary Service confirmed last week the existence of African swine fever in Latvia.The positive samples were taken from three wild boar just several meters from the Belarus border.
