Price of meat falls, milk more expensive

RIGA - In Latvia, the average purchase price of meat decreased 3.5% in 2013, from EUR 1,836 per ton in 2012 to EUR 1,772 last year, as prices of beef fell 9.1% and prices of pork increased 2.1 percent, according to the Central Statistical Bureau’s data.The average price of milk grew from 271 euros per ton in 2012 to EUR 305 in 2013 or by 12.5%, reaching its highest purchase price in December—336 euros per ton.The average sale price of eggs went down from 8.19 euros per 100 eggs in 2012 to 7.12 euros in 2013 or by 13.1%.Eighty-thousand and three hundred tons of meat...
