103 persons become naturalized citizens

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers granted Latvian citizenship through naturalization to 103 persons, including 12 minors.

74 percent of the new citizens are ethnic Russians, nine percent - Ukrainians, 16 percent - Belarussians, the rest are Lithuanians, Poles and other nationalities.

17 percent of the newly-naturalized persons have primary education, 54 percent - secondary education, 26 percent - higher education.

Overall, 141,721 persons have been granted Latvian citizenship through naturalization since 1995.
