Estonia’s Center Party announced that the party's chairman, Edgar Savisaar, has become a victim of distortion by Russian news agency RIA Novosti, reports Aripaev Online.

Namely that RIA Novosti published a news item concerning Savisaar's speech in Moscow on March 18 where the mayor of Estonia's capital Tallinn and chairman of Estonia's biggest opposition party, the Center Party, Savisaar allegedly claimed that the legitimacy of the Crimean referendum “is not important; the most important thing is to see that people are satisfied with the results of the referendum.”

"Actually Savisaar did not speak about the legitimacy of the referendum at all; he spoke about the events in Kiev that ended with human casualties, which are more important. Savisaar meant that Estonia became independent without any human casualties," the Center Party said in a press release.

"We have submitted a disputation about the news item since it is false information," the Center Party said.

Savisaar was visiting Moscow to deliver a lecture "Cooperation of European cities in the modern world" at the Russian Foreign Ministry Academy of Diplomacy.
