Putin shakes hands with Latvian Premier in Sochi

Latvian President Andris Berzins has met Russian President Putin for the first time during the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The leaders discussed the relevance of strengthening Russia, Latvia relations during a dinner organized by the International Olympic Committee on Jan.7.

Former Latvian President and leader of the Reform political party Valdis Zatlers said an invitation for Putin to visit Latvia was still open.

Berzins also shook hands with other leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
