American rock band Kings of Leon will perform a concert at the Mezaparks Stage in Riga on Jun. 25.

The concert in Mezaparks will be one of eight solo concerts the band will give in Europe, as well as the band's first and only concert in the region. The open-stage concert is also expected to attract a large number of fans from abroad.

The performance will be the first major open-stage concert in Riga since Metallica performed at the Skonto stadium in 2008, dozens of thousands of people are expected to turn out to see the concert.

In Latvia, only 20,000 tickets to the Kings of Leon concert will be sold, the rest will be sold in Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Russia and Belarus.

The tickets will go on sale on February 14; initially the price for standing room tickets will be EUR 45 that will gradually increase to 55 euro as the concert date draws nearer.

The performance in Riga is part of the Kings of Leon tour promoting the band's latest album, Mechanical Bull released in 2013.

Majors notes that Kings of Leon popularity is largely thanks to the band's success in Great Britain, where the first three albums of "Kings of Leon" peaked in the top five of the "UK Albums Chart" in 2008.

The band gained worldwide popularity following the release of the "Only by the Night" album, which featured such hit singles as "Use Somebody" and "Sex on Fire".

The concert is organized by Positivus Music and FBI.
