More money needed for supermarket collapse clear up , says official

More emergency funds will be needed to clear up the site of a collapse supermarket in Riga, Latvian Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis has said,

A total of 54 people died after a Maxima supermarket roof collapsed on Nov. 21, 2013. 

Kozlovskis  that additional funding will be requested from the government's emergency resources for successful completion of the project  and further investigations./

A major amount needed is for various types of equipment and for wages, including overtime pay.

The ministry was quick to add that right after the disaster, it had declared that it would spare no expense for the investigation, but that it had no idea how much this would be. The picture is much clearer now, he said.

The Riga supermarket tragedy has become the largest loss of life since the restoration of independence in 1991.
