Straujuma government starts amid Lemberg

RIGA - Latvia’s Saeima on Jan. 22 confirmed the new Laimdota Straujuma (Unity) government, as she becomes Latvia’s first ever female prime minister, reports LETA. In an overwhelming show of support, 64 Saeima members voted for the new government, 27 voted against, while four abstained.The opposition’s Harmony Center provided the ‘no’ votes, while two independent MPs, Vladimirs Reskajs and Inga Vanaga, abstained.
