Eight year old girl treated for frostbite after walking home from school

Up to 150 people have been hospitalized for frostbites or hypothermia in Latvia last month, emergency services say

The youngest victim was an eight-year-old girl who suffered frostbites to her legs while going home from school, said the Emergency Medical Service's representative Inga Vitola.

The oldest was a 95-year-old man who was hospitalized for hypothermia after injuring himself and spending several hours lying on the floor in an unheated room.

Most frostbite victims were registered in Riga, and most of them had suffered frostbites after drinking too much liquor.In December, 67 people were hospitalized for frostbites and hypothermia.
