Temperatures drop below minus 20 in Latvia

Temperatures dipped below minus 20 degrees Celsius in many eastern regions of Latvia this morning, he Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Service informs.

The lowest temperature was recorded in Aluksne - minus 21.5 degrees Celsius, Rezekne had minus 21.1 degrees and Gulbene minus 21 degrees this morning. Temperature in Daugavpils dropped to minus 20.8 degrees and in Zoseni to minus 20.4 degrees Celsius.

In Northern Vidzeme, temperatures range from minus 17 degrees to minus 19 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature in Zemgale this morning was recorded in Bauska - minus 17.2 degrees. In Kurzeme, temperatures range from minus 10.6 degrees in Kolka to minus 16 degrees in Stende this morning. Temperature in Ventspils was minus 13.2 degrees and in Liepaja minus 12.2 degrees Celsius.

In Riga, the lowest temperature was minus 16.4 degrees Celsius in the morning.

Forecast for today are southeasterly winds of up to 12-15 meters per second.
