City records -12C as winter grips Latvia

A town in Latvia has registered minus12 degrees as winter continues to grip the Baltics. 

In Rezekne, temperatures dropped to minus 12.2 degrees. The lowest temperature in Zoseni was recorded at 1 a.m. - minus 11.7 degrees.

The temperature in Gulbene was minus 11.1 degrees at 1 a.m., in Ainazi - minus 5.9 degrees at 8 a.m., in Rujiena - minus 7.9 degrees at 8 a.m.

In Kurzeme, temperatures ranged from minus 0.8 degrees in Rucava to minus 5.2 degrees in Mersrags.
In Zemgale, the lowest temperature was registered in Jelgava at 8 a.m. - minus 6.4 degrees.

The temperature in Riga was minus 3.4 degrees, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center reports.

According to meteorologists, it will become colder this weekend, when temperatures drop to minus 11 - minus 16 degrees in some locations. Daytime temperatures will not exceed minus 7 to minus 12 degrees.
