Riga Airport Security Department Chief Raimonds Lazdins and two of his subordinates have been suspended from their jobs for listening in on employee phone conversations and carelessly performing their duties, TV3 broadcast Neka personiga (Nothing Personal) reported yesterday.

Lazdins was caught not only spying on employee phone conversations, but also making other violations, possibly, including letting unauthorized persons access the airport.

The investigation was launched by the airport's new board member Raimonds Rozkalns. There are many violations, not all of them can be revealed. However, it is clear that Lazdins systematically listened in on employee phone conversations. Last week, the Security Police took over the investigation and carried out searches, seizing computers, various devices and documents.
