Latvian defense minister Artis Pabriks could be set to become the countries new Prime Minister, reports LETA.
It follows after Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis announced his resignation in November following the Riga supermarket collapse disaster that left 54 dead and dozens injured.
Dombrovskis said he was taking political responsibility for the disaster.
Other candidates for the Prime Minister role include MEP Krisjanis Karins and the PM's advisor and former culture minister, Ints Dalderis.
Following the Coalition Council's meeting tonight, Dombrovskis said Unity is prepared to set up and lead the new government.
The coalition partners appear to support the plan for a broader coalition, inviting the Greens/Farmers back to the Cabinet.
