Latvian manufacturing grows

RIGA - Latvian manufacturing turnover increased by 1.6 percent in August, new research shows. New figures from the Central Statistical Bureau show a turnover increase in the manufacture of motor vehicles, wearing apparel and electrical equipment. Growth was also recorded in wood processing and metalworking.

However, a turnover drop was recorded in the manufacture of other transport equipment including ship building, railway locomotives, printing and reproduction of recorded media and in the fabrication of basic metals.

In comparison with August 2012, manufacturing turnover in August 2013 has dropped by 0.7 percent, with a 7.8 percent drop in exports.
