TALLINN - The Estonian Center Party board decided on Oct. 8 to expel 70 people from the party who, in the upcoming local municipality elections, will run in an election union or some other party candidate list, competing in the same race with the Center Party, reports Public Broadcasting.

The party explained that the individuals were expelled in line with the party statues that obliges party members to follow the party’s program positions and decisions made in the name of the party, and support the party’s election campaign.

“These people have, by joining candidate lists of other parties and election unions, turned their backs to the main messages of the Center Party in these election campaigns,” said secretary general Priit Toobal. “Instead of looking together for solutions for reducing unemployment and emigration and easing price increases, they support the policy to exhaust people pursued by right-wingers, or they pursue their own agenda based on personal interests,” claimed Toobal.
