Europe’s manufacturers promoted

VILNIUS - On Oct. 7-8 the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council in Vilnius is hosting the international conference MANUFUTURE 2013 with 500 participants from 41 countries. The conference serves as a forum for stakeholders from industry, universities, research institutions and government discuss the possibilities on how to better put the new EU research and innovation program Horizon 2020 and respective national initiatives into operation. The motto of the conference is “Sustainable re-industrialization of Europe.”

The conference is under the patronage of Dalia Grybauskaite, president of Lithuania. The conference will be also greeted by the Minister of Education and Science of Lithuania, Dainius Pavalkis, and the EU Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science Maire Geoghegan-Quinn.

Pavalkis says: “Today the importance of the manufacturing industry for the sustainable growth of Europe is immense. In order for us to meet Europe’s competitiveness needs on the global arena, research and innovation must become core for the industrial transformation.”
