Political campaign underway in Estonia

Starting on Aug. 21, parties and election unions are able to submit their lists of candidates for the upcoming local municipality elections, reports Public Broadcasting. In the city of Tartu, the election union Vabakund was the first one to submit registration documents to the elections committee; in Tallinn it was election union Free Citizen of Tallinn.

While parties can submit candidates till 6 p.m. on Sept. 10, election unions can submit their candidates for registration till Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.

By Sept. 20, the Interior Ministry will compile lists of voters. Advance voting starts in county centers on Oct. 10 and ends on Oct. 13. From Oct. 14-16 all polling stations are open for voting. Electronic voting lasts from Oct. 10 to 16.

Election day is Sunday, Oct. 20.
