Dombrovskis offers All Nippon Airways to invest in airBaltic

RIGA - Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity), continuing his visit to Japan, had a meeting with All Nippon Airways Board Chairman Yoji Ohashi on April 8, offering the Japanese airline to invest money in airBaltic, LETA was informed by Dombrovskis' press secretary Martins Panke.

The sides focused on cooperation in cargo transportation and charter flights. Dombrovskis also informed Ohashi about Latvia's economic situation, growth opportunities and the goal of joining the eurozone. Latvian-Russian relations were also discussed.

Dombrovskis invited All Nippon Airways to intensify cooperation in tourism, from providing information about Japanese interests in the Baltic States and to adjusting charter flights.

Experts will continue detailed discussions on further cooperation today.

Dombrovskis also met with Japan Airlines President Yoshiharu Ueki to discussing the opening of regular or charter flights to Riga. Japan Airlines representatives admitted that, in order to increase demand for Riga as a tourism destination, it is necessary to popularize Latvia in Japan.
