VILNIUS - On Friday Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius addressed the nation on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania, the press service of the PM said.

"Tomorrow, on February 16, we will be marking the 95-anniversary of the re-establishment of our sovereign state. On that day, patriots of different political views and beliefs announced the restoration of the state of Lithuania, and called people to contribute to this," said PM.

Butkevicius says that faith in Lithuania's future and unity served as a strong binding material for the construction of our young state, having brought together people of different social backgrounds, nationalities and religions. The sense of communion helped Lithuania to rise from the historic nothingness, survive decades of occupation and to come alive again under the flags of the Sajudis.

Butkevicius invited to celebrate the Independence Day together, in unity and solidarity, as this exactly where our strength lies. This way an appropriate tribute will be paid to the great men that signed the Act of Independence.
