RIGA - Heat supply company “Rigas siltums”hopes that heating rates in Riga will reduce by an average 3 percent in June when the green energy projects at Ziepniekalns and Zasulauks are completed, as the company informedbusiness portalNozare.lv.

“Rigas siltums”CEO Normunds Talcis says that, as a result, heat production costs will decrease and heating rates will go down in Riga. The heat plants in Ziepniekalns and Zasulauks neighborhoods will work on locally-produced woodchips, making the company less dependent on imported natural gas.

The new heating rates were submitted to the Public Utilities Commission on January 31, and “Rigas siltums”hopes that the new rates will come into force already in June this year.
