RIGA - Great Britain's leading politicians believe that their country should stay in the European Union, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (Reform Party) said in an interview with the LNT television this morning.

Rinkevics recently met with the British minister for Europe who informed the Latvian politician about the main points of British Prime Minister David Cameron's speech today.

It was emphasized that Cameron wants Great Britain to stay in the EU. Great Britain, as an active EU member state, is also within Latvia's interests, explained Rinkevics.

Rinkevics declined to predict potential changes if Britain decides to quit the EU and pointed out that such speculations are unnecessary.

It is expected that the long-awaited and repeatedly-postponed speech on Great Britain's further relations with the EU will be delivered by Cameron in London today.
