Ronis decides to resign

RIGA - Due to differences in opinion with the ruling coalition and the opposition, and in an attempt to lessen tensions in the coalition, Transport Minister Aivis Ronis has decided to step down.

The coalition nevertheless has every opportunity to continue working, Ronis emphasized in an interview with business portal "Nozare.lv." The minister will discuss his resignation with Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) during the next few days.

Ronis also pointed out that he fully supports Latvia's goal of joining the eurozone.
