Literary goal behind friendly competition

TALLINN - Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics announced the start of a competition for recognizing the best Latvian- and Estonian-language translators, reports LETA. The winner of the competition will be announced in February.Foreign Minister Paet stated that through awarding a translation prize, it is hoped to inspire more translations of Estonian literature into Latvian, and vice versa. “We call on all translators who translate from Estonian to Latvian, and from Latvian to Estonian to participate in the competition,” said ...
