It is rather uncommon for Latvian politicians to do something which harms their own interests, but there are exceptions. The Saeima has (surprisingly enough unanimously) passed two laws related to election campaigning, and both of them are progressive and most commendable.The first one bans television advertising by political parties for a full 30 days before any election, whether local, national, or European.
