VILNIUS - Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite says that Lithuania’s economy is recovering and life will improve but not as fast as we would like to.

"If you want it to improve faster, we need to reduce the black economy and work better and pay taxes honestly,"Grybauskaite said in an interview with the Ziniu Radijason Tuesday morning.

"Lithuania’s economy is recovering, but very carefully," said the president.

According to Grybauskaite, the fight against corruption will be effective only if Lithuanian people understand its importance.

"The bigger is the shadow, the less money we will have for schools, health and salaries. The shadow economy is practically robbing us. We ourselves by paying or taking "envelope pay," trying to hide the taxes or reducing salaries artificially, rob not the State but each other, our children and retirement future," said the president.
